ONLINE
Protect Your Identity
Don’t reveal any personal information (address, phone number, place of business) until you truly feel comfortable doing so.
Establish an anonymous email address.
It’s a good idea to create an alternate email address for dating purposes. Be careful not to include any identifying information. Keep the email you regularly use for family and friends.
Report any abusive behavior
Click Contact Us to report any harassment or abuse so we can address it promptly. Forms of harassment and abuse are:
- offensive emails or profile content
- inappropriate behavior on dates
- illegal activity
- spam or solicitation
- If you feel threatened or are the victim of harassment or abuse, we strongly advise that you quit correspondence and immediately block sender.
ON DATES
Meet in Public
Although you may have chatted online, your date is still a stranger. For initial meetings always meet in populated, public places. Avoid the temptation to bring a first date to your home.
Transportation
When meeting first dates, we suggest you drive yourself, take a taxi, or catch a ride with friends or family. Getting into a strangers car is never a good idea.
Tell Someone
Inform a friend or family member where you are going, how long you’ll be and who you are with. Inform your date that you’ve done this as well.
Stay Sober
Avoid excessive alcohol consumption that can cloud judgment and leave you vulnerable. Stay sober and keep a clear head for any situation that might arise.
Watch Yourself
Avoid theft and the risk of being drugged. Don’t leave valuables, food or drinks unattended.
Carry a Cell
Call 911 if you feel in any danger.
Ask Questions
Find out as much as you can about your date. Ask questions or search online, the more you know about them the better. Make sure you share this information with a family member or friend.
